Special: hoog binnen, maar niet op #1 gestaan

In de 750 edities van de FZ Top 40 die tot nu toe zijn verschenen hebben 3.802 hits gestaan. Daarvan vond ik er 104 direct zó goed, dat ze meteen in de top-5 binnen kwamen. De kans op een nummer 1-hit lijkt dan groot. Toch is het 46 hits niet gelukt om op #1 te komen, ook al kwamen ze in de top-5 binnen. In deze blogpost licht ik een aantal gevallen los uit en zet ik ze alle 46 op een rij.

Linkin Park - Heavy Is the Crown

Na de succesvolle comeback van Linkin Park in 2024 met The Emptiness Machine (nieuw binnen op #1 en daar zeven weken blijven staan), kwam opvolger Heavy Is the Crown binnen op nummer twee. Het nummer werd twee weken lang van #1 afgehouden door... The Emptiness Machine. Daarna werd het naar een lagere positie doorverwezen. Heavy Is the Crown heeft dankzij het verzamelen van 613 punten het record voor... 'Succesvolste hit die in de top-5 binnenkwam, maar de nummer 1 nooit heeft gehaald'.

Katy Perry - Roar

Dat record pakte Linkin Park af van Katy Perry's succesvolste hit: Roar, dat slechts drie punten minder heeft. Roar werd van de koppositie afgehouden door Avicii's Wake Me Up. Ook onder meer Stromaes Papaoutai had er last van dat Avicii bijna de hele zomer de lijst aanvoerde, al kwam dat nummer niet in de top-5 binnen.

Olivia Rodrigo - Vampire

Hoewel haar debuutsingle Drivers License wél op nummer 1 stond, is Vampire met redelijke afstand Olivia Rodrigo's succesvolste hit geworden. Dat heeft er alles mee te maken dat het maar liefst zeven weken op #3 heeft gestaan (en één week op #2). Er is geen ander nummer dat zo lang op #3 heeft gestaan.

Bring Me the Horizon - Teardrops

Na YUNGBLUD is Bring Me the Horizon de succesvolste act uit de geschiedenis van de FZ Top 40. De Engelse rockband heeft negen nummer 1-hits én vier nummer 2-hits op hun naam staan. Zes van hun hits kwamen in de top-5 binnen. Daarvan heeft alleen Teardrops (binnen op #3, piek op #2) niet op nummer 1 gestaan. Desondanks is het wel één van mijn favorieten van Bring Me the Horizon geworden.

LMFAO - Sexy and I Know It

Ze scoorden drie FZ Top 40-hits en toen verdwenen ze: het duo LMFAO. Waarom ik Sexy and I Know It in dit lijstje opneem? Het is een bijzonder geval in de zin van dat het in de allereerste FZ Top 40 (week 1-2012) op #5 stond en op dit moment nog steeds de minst succesvolle is van alle hits die in de top-5 binnenkwamen, maar niet op #1 hebben gestaan. Nummers die in de eerste week van de FZ Top 40 in de top-5 stonden niet meegeteld is Heartless van Ollie, uit 2024, de minst succesvolle.
